PSYCHOLOGICAL PROJECTION: THE AFFLICTION THAT KEEPS AMERICANS FROM UNDERSTANDING ISLAM

Projection is simply the strong tendency to project our values onto others.

It is why a salesman will mistakenly project a strong belief in his product onto the potential buyer, who sees things quite differently.

It is why a thief will accuse others of stealing.  It is why a cheater will suspect everyone else of cheating.  It is why a bully will accuse others of being too aggressive.

It is why a devoutly religious Christian or Jew will mistakenly project those peaceful and tolerant values onto the believers of all religions.

It is why Christians and Jews will project the peaceful nature of their religion onto believers of Islam.

It is why Christians and Jews will even believe that Islam is only a religion, when in actuality, it is far more.

To be a Christian is to strive to be like Christ:  tolerant, forgiving, helpful, non-violent.  It is to accept the separation of religion and state by believing that people should "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to render unto God what is God's."

On the other hand, to be a Muslim is to be like Mohammad.  This means to accept the peaceful teachings of the Quran.

But Mohammad was much more than the founder of a religion.

He became a judge and lawgiver, a giver of Shariah law, which would become the legal basis of government.  There is no separation of religion and state in Islam.  There is no democracy – only theocracy.

Finally, Mohammad became a war leader, a general who attacked Mecca, conquered its people and forced them to convert to Islam and accept Shariah law.

This set off a wave of Muslim conquests that swept through the Middle East and Europe.  The world was shocked when Roman Catholic Spain succumbed to Islam at Cordoba.  (Cordoba, not so coincidentally, is the name for the 15-story mosque proposed to be built at the site of the World Trade Center.)

Thus, Islam is not just a religion. It is an all-encompassing movement which is one part religion, one part law, and one part military.

There are of course some Muslims, mostly women, who look at Islam as only a religion, with varying customs governing dress and rights.

Then there are what we call "moderate" Muslims, who believe in Islam as a powerful movement encompassing both religion and Shariah law.  The "moderate" Muslim imposes the values of Shariah law through infiltration, friendly persuasion, intimidation and eventually violence if the peaceful forms of intimidation fail to meet his objectives.

This pattern has been seen all through history.

And Islam is moving in that direction in the USA.

Moderate Muslims were horrified by the violence of 9/11.  The New York Times quoted a Muslim shortly after 9/11 who said, "This is terrible.  We had such hopes of converting America into a Muslim nation."  He wasn't just talking religion.  He had Shariah law in mind.

The signs of Muslim intimidation and Shariah law are all over the Western democracies.  A judge in England already makes some decisions accord to Shariah law.  Turkey is demanding that Germany allow the establishment of Turkish schools, which will teach Islam to German students.  A large mosque in Maryland teaches hatred for America in sermons and in textbooks.  Last year, Muslim cab drivers in Minneapolis refused to pick up people at the airport who were arriving with alcoholic beverages purchased at the duty-free shop.  It was against Shariah law and the local officials were caving in until the entire local citizenry rose in protest.

The 19 perpetrators of 9/11 were aided in their movements across America by moderate Muslims who, according to Shariah law, are responsible for giving shelter to fellow Muslims who are traveling.  Muslim charities have been discovered funneling funds to Islamists who are terrorists.

Muslim infiltration and intimidation has reached serious proportions in American institutions.

The director of the FBI bends over backward to accommodate the sensibilities of Muslims. He strongly opposes profiling Muslims, which means his organization must waste time profiling Catholics, Protestants and atheists.

The military is so hesitant about Muslim sensibilities that it allowed a Muslim Army Major to freely contact terrorists, culminating in the death of the Fort Bragg soldiers.

The so-called press, protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution, has been thoroughly intimidated by the acts of "moderate" Muslims.  USA Today was sued over an article identifying an organization which had been named by the FBI as a terrorist organization.  The heavy money in the legal action was provided by Saudi Arabia's violent Wahhabi brand of Islam.

American media was so terrified of Islamic reaction that the famed Danish cartoons were buried from the public's view.  A violent Islamist march in London used placards of filthy language decrying democracy.  The dramatic photos were front-page stuff in England, but never saw the light of day in America.

The rumor about a Guantanamo soldier putting a Quran in the toilet set off demonstrations and violence all over the world.  But where were the moderate Muslim protests when Islamists were cutting off the heads of captured American soldiers?  Where were the protests when Iran's Islamists were hanging homosexuals because their very existence was a violation of Shariah law?

A Florida minister has been making headlines this week for wanting to burn a copy of the Quran.  He is an ignorant man because the Quran is the peaceful, religious component of Islam.  Everybody in America cowered, even the redoubtable General Petraeus.

Why?  Burning any book, Bible or Quran, is perfectly legal under our court interpretations of the First Amendment.  Have the Islamists intimidated us to such a degree that we oppose burning a book because it is illegal under Shariah law? Have some of our institutions already accepted portions of Shariah law?

Mayor Bloomberg of New York and President Obama suffer from Projection Affliction.  Both support the building of the victorious Cordoba mosque at Ground Zero because they view Islam to be only a religion.  They do not understand that the Cordoba mosque will be a major propaganda victory for violent Islam over the USA.

I can see the story in Al Jazeera now.

"With only Osama Bin Laden and 19 martyrs, Islam has destroyed the Great Satan's financial heart and replaced it with the victorious Cordoba mosque."

68% of Americans have the wisdom to oppose the Cordoba mosque.
