OBAMA'S ASSAULT ON HEALTHCARE AND ALGEBRA

President Obama is doing something really odd: He's attacking the current healthcare system and algebra at the same time.

And he's endangering anyone taking an SAT test.

If you think this is far out, just solve the following healthcare algebra word problem.

"If the current healthcare system costs $1 billion to cover 257 million people, how much would it cost to cover 307 million people?"

The solution:

X = 307/257 x $1 billion.

X = $1.19 billion, or 19% more.

But Obama is telling you that his algebra shows the answer to be less than $1 billion.

If we add one more question to the problem, you can see how shocking his answer is.

"If the typical healthcare inflation is 10%, what would the cost be?"

The solution:

X = $1.19 billion + 0.10 ($1.19 billion)

X = $1.29 billion, or 29% more.

Obama claims that critics of his healthcare plan are all a bunch of partisan Republicans (all of whom would rather put algebra ahead of their country's well-being).

But the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has studied his plan and concluded that expanding coverage would increase healthcare costs and continue to increase them for a long time to come. The CBO warns against enormous future deficits.

We can only thank God that someone in Washington believes in algebra.

When you daughter asks, "What good is algebra when I grow up?," you should answer, "Algebra might help you to save the USA from financial ruin."

Obama claims that his plan will save a lot of money.

But his claim violates three immutable laws of Congress:

1. All spending shall exceed budgeted costs.

2. All "projected savings" shall be deleted from legislation by special interest groups.

3. All budgeted programs will become, and remain, permanent long after they have failed.

Whether you are Democrat, Republican, Independent or Socialist, you would be wise to come down on the side of algebra.

The well-being of your children and grandchildren depends on it.
